Archdiocesan Memorial Day Mass at the National Shrine of St. Therese in Juneau

The Archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau Memorial Day Mass will take place at the National Shrine of St. Therese in Juneau, to honor and pray for those men and women who gave their lives for the cause of freedom.

Mass will be preceded by a rosary on the Shrine Rosary Trail at 9:30 a.m.

Mass will be celebrated by Father Pat Casey, OMI at the Shrine Columbarium at 11 a.m. (An attempt to livestream the Rosary and Mass will be made at https://www.facebook.com/Shrine-of-St-Therese-483369845080958, but will depend on weather and cell phone coverage). 

A stone blessing will take place following Mass for those laid to rest at the Shrine, along with a Spaghetti lunch served by the Knights of Columbus.

 

Prayer for Memorial Day

God of power and mercy,
you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,
that we may all deserve to be called your sons
and daughters.

Keep in your mercy those men and women
who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely
into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
