St. John the Baptist In Homer: PArt-Time Secretary
Lumen Christi High School is currently seeking two full time, long term (FALL SEMESTER) substitute teachers to fill the following:
POSITION 1: High School Speech and Composition (two sections); Language Arts 8 (two sections); and,
POSITION 2: US History, AK History, and Social Studies 8 (two sections). *If practicing Catholic, this position may also teach one section of Theology 11.*
Candidates will take on the full role of instruction, grading, and preparation for each class, and will be expected to attend faculty meetings, professional development periods, and in-service days.
Candidates who possess a state teaching certificate or ability to apply for one are preferred, as are practicing Catholics.
Teachers report back to school on Thursday, August 8th with classes beginning on Thursday, August 14th. The semester concludes on Friday, December 19th with a full week (November 22nd-30th) Thanksgiving break. General Summary of Position: The Director is responsible for directing the overall operations of Catholic Retreat House Ministries, Inc. (Holy Spirit Center). This includes ministry, development, maintenance, and operations of the center’s facilities for community purposes. This position will initially be full time (flexible) and salaried. It is anticipated the Director will work collaboratively with the Board of Directors for a sustainable lever of operations. High School graduate.
Valid driver’s license.
Sale Environments trained. (Can be accomplished as part of hiring process)
Strong desire increase use and net revenues of the Holy Spirit Center.
Practicing Catholic involved in faith community or priest/religious in good standing.
Demonstrated record of effective leadership.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use basic computer programs.
Experience in development, budgeting, administration, hospitality and contractor and volunteer supervision.
Ability in team building, oral and written communication skills, creative conflict resolution and ability to collaborate with multiple constituencies including diverse faith communities.
Ability to analyze issues and implement creative solutions to complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated computer competence.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in management.
Experience as a Director of a non-profit with a mission similar to that of Holy Spirit Center.
Skill in business negotiations, contracting, accounting, human services, and
financial management.
Academic background in Theology and Scripture, with demonstrated
ministry skills.
Duties: Leadership and Supervision
Provides leadership and oversight for the operation of the mission and ministry of Holy Spirit Center (HSC) and provide a regular accounting of the operation to the Board of Directors and the Archbishop of Anchorage-Juneau.
Directly supervises the volunteers and contract workers provided housekeeping and minimal maintenance.
Builds an effective team, creatively resolves conflicts, encourages volunteer development.
Finance and Budget
Oversees preparation of annual budget and provides the Board and proper agencies of the Archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau timely reports.
In partnership with the Board of Directors and the Archdiocese Development Office, raises funds and oversees the development of ministry and facility events for fees.
Monitors on-going income and expense relative to budget.
Oversees all deposits, payroll, cash flow, accounts receivable and payable.
Ministry
Oversees the development of the ministry activities, calendar, and marketing of events.
Participates in some ministry events.
Facility Use
Schedules, negotiates and contracts all facility use.
Coordinates all facets of facility use with clients and guests.
Maintains and publishes monthly facility calendar.
